Chad Allen was born Chad Allen Lazzarion on June 5, 1974. He has a twin sister named Charity. Chad is basically Italian with a little German mixed in. He was raised within a “strict” Roman Catholic household and regards himself as being a “deeply spiritual person” because of his upbringing. His first job was in a McDonalds television commercial, at age four. One of his first television acting jobs was in 1981 on the TV Series Simon & Simon (which starred the sexy Jameson Parker, who I used to watch on the Soap Opera One Life To Live in the 1980’s) in the episode: “A Recipe for Disaster”. Chad went onto St. Elsewhere where he played Tommy Westphall on 11 episodes between 1983-1988. One of my favorite actors from St. Elsewhere was Mark Harmon (Mark is the uncle to Gunnar & Matthew Nelson, you know those blond guys that took up singing like their famous dad Rick Nelson) Anyways back to Chad…He also did some guest starring roles in the 1980’s on shows like Airwolf, The New Leave It to Beaver, Matt Houston, Hotel, A Death in California, Code of Vengeance, Punky Brewster & Webster.
Now this is something that I didn’t know, Chad was the voice for Charlie Brown in the 1986 Happy New Year, Charlie Brown TV Special! I love the Charlie Brown TV Specials, my favorite though is A Charlie Brown Christmas from 1965. Brings back some good memories!
I think I remember seeing Chad for the first time on the TV Series Our House where he played David Witherspoon from 1986-1988. Our House also starred Wilford Brimley, Deidre Hall & Shannen Doherty. Deidre Hall is best known for her many years on the Soap Opera Days Of Our Lives where she plays Marlena Evans. And you all know Shannen Doherty from her days on the TV Series Beverly Hills 90210 where she played Brenda Walsh (her brother on there was Jason Priesley and her boyfriend on the show was Luke Perry). Our House was a good show, I see here it is back on TV showing reruns, maybe I’ll have to catch a show or two sometime…*jots that down*
In 1989-1990 Chad played Zach Nichols on the TV Series My Two Dads. That TV Sitcom also starred Staci Keanan, Paul Reiser and Greg Evigan. I best remember Staci from her role on Step By Step, Paul Reiser for his role on Mad About You and Greg Evigan for B. J. and the Bear.
After My Two Dads Chad went onto a great TV Series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman where he played Matthew Cooper from 1993-1998. That show starred Jane Seymour (love her, she is such a lovely lady!) & Joe Lando (what a hunk, I loved him when I first saw him on the Soap Opera One Life To Live where he played Jake Harrison).
Chad has done many other guest starring roles in the 2000’s, some include Cold Case, Charmed, Criminal Minds, CSI: Miami, General Hospital: Night Shift & Dexter.
In 2005 Chad did in Here TV’s “Donald Strachey Mystery” series where he portrays lead character Donald Strachey, a gay private detective in a monogamous relationship, based on novels by Richard Stevenson. Allen noted that Strachey is the first gay character he had ever played outside of theater, and that though his career was “different” since coming out, he finds it “more interesting and fun for me than it has ever been.”
In 2007 he starred in the film Save Me opposite Judith Light (who was on shows such as One Life To Live & Who’s The Boss, great lady!) and Robert Gant (from Showtime’s Queer as Folk) The film was developed and produced by Allen himself and was directed by Robert Clary and written by Light’s husband Robert Desiderio, based on a screenplay by Craig Chester.
One of Chad’s latest projects was in 2010 in the comedy For Better or for Worse which is about a pair of grooms whose family, friends, and exes threaten to turn their wedding into a disastrous event and stars Rebecca Gayheart, Janeane Garofalo, Patrick Muldoon and Brad Rowe. Last heard this comedy has yet to be released.
