PAULA ABDUL

PAULA ABDUL

I have always loved and admired Paula Abdul, she is such an inspiration! I saw her many years ago in concert at Saratoga Springs, New York. That gal put on one heck of a great show. She has more energy than anyone I know! She performed that night for nearly 2 hours and never did she stop moving while she was singing! And the many outfits she changed into that night, WoW! All I can say is she is so sweet and gracious, she projects that positive energy out into the world and has touched so many…  Here is a little blog I did on her, I hope you enjoy…

Paula Abdul was born Paula Julie Abdul on June 19th, 1962 in Los Angeles, CA. Paula has always had a plan for herself, even at the early age of seven she was performing in community theater groups and was spending her summers touring in theatrical productions. At ten, she studied tap and jazz and soon won a scholarship to study dance with a prestigious company.

Paula had a love for cheerleading even in her Van Nuys High School were she was made head of the school cheerleading team. After graduating from there, she began a course in broadcasting at Cal State Northridge, with the intention of becoming a sports broadcaster. Her college career came to a premature end, however, when her best friend persuaded her to audition for the L.A. Lakers basketball team. In less than a month she was the choreographer for the squad, she had a flavor of funky, harder style than just pom poms, frills and razzle-dazzle, her style was based on a mixture of classical and street moves. And it was this style that caught the eye of the Jackson family. They later signed her to do the choreography for a video, their single “Torture”.

Paula had her 1st Album debut in June 1988 titled Forever Your Girl. She went on to record six no. 1 hits and won a Grammy for Best Music Video – Short Form”. After her first successes she encountered some difficulties both personal and professional. She returned to the scene however in 2002 as a successful and well-liked judge on the television program “American Idol”. After eight years on Idol, Paula moved on to another television series, CBS’s Live to Dance, which debuted in January 2011, the series has since been canceled. She will be seen this Fall in the American version of The X Factor with her former American Idol co-judge Simon Cowell which is slated to premiere in September 2011. She is also been said to be working on a new album.
