Liv Tyler was born Liv Rundgren on July 1, 1977 in New York. She is the daughter of Aerosmith’s lead singer, Steven Tyler, and Bebe Buell, model and singer. Her mom claimed that Liv was Todd Rundgren’s daughter but in later years when Liv was 9 years old she met Steven Tyler and noticed that she had a resemblance to his other daughter Mia. She then learned that indeed Steven Tyler was her real dad! The two have since become close.

When Liv was 14 years old Paulina Porizkova took photos of her that ended up in Interview Magazine and thus her modeling career was underway! After about a year she became bored with modeling and decided she wanted to go into acting, she never did take acting lessons! In 1993 Liv appeared in her dad’s band Aerosmith’s music video “Crazy” alongside Alicia Silverstone.

In 1994 she made her film debut in Silent Fall. She went on to do such films in the 1990’s as Empire Records, Stealing Beauty (which was her breakthrough role), Inventing the Abbotts , Empire Records, That Thing You Do! In 1998 she was in the film Armageddon where she played the daughter of Bruce Willis‘ character and love interest of Ben Affleck’s character, she turned down this role 2 times before deciding to take the part! In an interview she said “I really didn’t want to do it at first and I turned it down a couple of times, but the biggest reason I changed my mind was because I was scared of it. I wanted to try it for that very reason. I mean, I’m not really in this to do amazing things in my career – I just want it to be special when I make a movie.” The movie included the songs “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” and “What Kind of Love Are You On” by Aerosmith.

From 2001-2003 Liv starred in the The Lord of the Rings movies which were The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers & The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. She learned to speak the fictitious Elvish language that was created by Tolkien. And she spent months before filming learning swordfighting, to be used during the concluding battle scenes in The Two Towers, though her scenes from the battle were removed after the script was changed. Bummer now that would have been cool to see, Liv swordfighting!

In 2004 she went on to star in the romantic comedy film Jersey Girl opposite her Armageddon co-star Ben Affleck. In 2005 she starred with Ben’s younger brother Casey Affleck in the movie Lonesome Jim, she played a single mother and nurse who reconnects with an old fling who has returned to their small town of Indiana after a failed run as a novelist in New York.

Liv starred in the horror-thriller The Strangers with Scott Speedman, a film about a young couple who are terrorized one night by three masked assailants in their remote country house. I saw this one and was on the edge of my seat watching! What a performance! Although the film garnered a mixed reception among critics it was a box office success. She noted that The Strangers was the most challenging role of her career. “It was as far as I could push myself in every way: physically, emotionally, mentally.”

Another box office success was the movie The Incredible Hulk that starred Liv (Dr. Betty Ross) and Edward Norton (the hulk). She was attracted to the love story in the script and also had been a fan of the TV Show. She said filming the part was “very physical, which was fun”, and compared her performance to “a deer caught in the headlights”. This year (2011) she will be appearing in two films which are: Super and The Ledge. And for 2012 she will be seen on 2 films which are  Robot and Frank and The Strangers 2 – Role: Kristen McKay (rumored).

On a personal note, Liv started dating British musician Royston Langdon of the band Spacehog in 1998. They became engaged in 2001 and married in 2003. She gave birth to a son, Milo William Langdon in December 14, 2004. The couple sadly separated in 2008 but said they would remain friends. Speaking of friends, Liv is good friends with Stella McCartney, model Helena Christensen and actresses Kate Hudson and Gwyneth Paltrow.

In 2003, she became the spokesperson for Givenchy perfume and cosmetics, in 2005 the brand named a rose after her, which was used in one of its fragrances. In 2009, she signed on for two more years as Givenchy spokesperson.
