Odd Thomas is a thriller novel by American writer Dean Koontz, published in 2003. The novel derives its title from the protagonist, a twenty-year-old short-order cook named Odd Thomas. Dean Koontz has a few Odd series novels out which are Odd Thomas (2003), Forever Odd (2005), and Brother Odd (2006). A third sequel, Odd Hours, was released on May 20, 2008 and a fourth sequel, Odd Apocalypse, was released on July 31, 2012. Two graphic-novel prequels, In Odd We Trust and Odd Is On Our Side have also been released. Who knows if this movie is a success maybe he will think about making his other Odd novels into films!
Short synopsis – In a California desert town, a short-order cook with clairvoyant abilities encounters a mysterious man with a link to dark, threatening forces. Odd Thomas quote: “I see dead people. But then, by God, I do something about it.”
In addition to seeing the dead, Odd has a new ability in the film: when he touches someone/something he gets an impression of an event that occurred in the past. Koontz notes that this addition works very well to convey information without breaking the pace of the film.
